The spymaster who sold secrets: ex-BND chief Hanning arrested for treason
German federal prosecutors arrested 80-year-old August Hanning, who led the BND from 1998 to 2005, on suspicion of treasonous espionage. His former chief of staff allegedly fed him some 2,000 classified documents destined for a foreign intelligence service.
