Sir A. Ramasamy Mudaliar

The party's first general secretary, called the 'brain of the Justice Party', who edited Justice and later became the first president of the UN Economic and Social Council.

Sir Arcot Ramasamy Mudaliar (14 October 1887 – 17 July 1976) was a lawyer, diplomat and statesman. He was part of the Justice Party from its beginnings and served as its first general secretary, elected in October 1917.

He was one of the delegation, with Kurma Venkata Reddi Naidu, that argued for communal representation in London in 1919. He was nominated to the Madras Legislative Council in 1920 and served until 1926, and was a member of the Legislative Assembly from 1931 to 1934. He came to be regarded as the 'brain of the Justice Party'. He succeeded P. N. Raman Pillai as editor of Justice, and under him, Wikipedia records, the paper's circulation grew greatly.

After independence he was India's delegate to the San Francisco Conference, the first president of the United Nations Economic and Social Council, and the last Dewan of Mysore (1946–1949).
