The TASMAC storm has a new headline — and this time it carries a caveat the size of the story itself. Tamil digital outlet TN News 24 has reported, as an "exclusive," that the Enforcement Directorate is set to summon actress Kayadu Lohar for interrogation in connection with the TASMAC money-laundering probe, and pointedly asks: where is Kayadu Lohar? According to the outlet's report, the trigger is the actress's alleged financial contact with Ratheesh Velu, the absconding accused in the TASMAC case whose MRC Nagar residence was sealed by the ED after he reportedly fled the country before searches could be conducted. The report further claims that a complaint reached the ED last year alleging money-laundering links involving Lohar. Here is what is established, and what is not. Established: Kayadu Lohar's name entered this case in May 2025, when multiple entertainment outlets reported that it had surfaced during ED raids and the interrogation of suspects in the TASMAC probe. The allegation, first reported by Mid-Day and widely carried, was that she had been paid around Rs 35 lakh to attend high-profile night parties hosted by individuals implicated in the scam — events the agency is examining as possible fronts for laundering illicit financial flows. Filmibeat reported at the time that although she had not been formally summoned or charged, her financial transactions were under review, and that the ED had issued no official statement directly naming her. Not established: the "imminent summons" itself. No other outlet has independently confirmed that a summons is coming, and the ED has made no public announcement. The claim rests entirely on one outlet's sourcing. Lohar, who broke through with Pradeep Ranganathan's Dragon and has since signed projects including one alongside Silambarasan TR, has never been charged in the case. In a later interview, she spoke of how deeply the allegations wounded her, saying it hurt to see such things said about her when all she did was follow her dreams. The TASMAC probe itself remains one of Tamil Nadu's most consequential investigations — an alleged corruption network running over Rs 1,000 crore through the state-run liquor distributor, with the Supreme Court itself observing at one stage that the ED was "crossing all limits." In a case of that gravity, the difference between a reported summons and a confirmed one matters enormously. Until the agency speaks, the "where is Kayadu Lohar" question is a headline in search of an official answer.
